Let it snow

Last week I woke up to big beautiful flakes falling from the sky. I love the snow! I woke up my hubby to tell him. He was just as excited as I was- oh how I love him :) I couldn't wait to show Tinsley. Other than the few seconds we took her out to let her catch some flakes, we spent most of the morning looking out of the window and making dozens of sugar cookies. It started covering the ground but not enough to take her sledding down the small hill by our home- dang it. Oh well, maybe next time :)

Sign language and Santa

I've been teaching Tinsley sign language. She knows quite a bit and it has really helped. She's even been signing in sentences lately. For example, she'll say "Mommy" and then sign the words "please drink juice" It's pretty cute :)
We recently took Tinsley to meet Santa. As soon as it was our turn I tried to hand her to him. I knew she wouldn't go for it but I thought I'd give it a try. She started crying immediately so I took her back and sat her on my lap.
When our turn was over I asked her, "Tinsley did you see Santa?"
She nodded her head.
"Wow! You did see Santa?"
She nods again
"That's so cool! Do you like Santa?"
More nodding.
I then asked her, "Do you want to go sit with Santa again?"
She immediately put her hands in the air and did the "all done" sign.
David and I had a good laugh :)

See how thrilled she was to meet him? HA!

I love this picture of her sweet little face after she left Santa and was safe in the arms of the one man she trusts :)

Chicken Black Bean Enchilada Casserole

This is a super yummy recipe my friend Nicole gave me. I fell in love with it the very first time I made it :) We are having it for dinner tonight and I can't wait! Thought I would share it with you...

Chicken Black Bean Enchilada Casserole

3 c. cooked/cubed chicken
2 15 oz. cans black beans (drained)
1 7-oz. can diced green chilies
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 c. chicken broth
1 tsp. chopped garlic
1 Tbsp. cumin
1 Tbsp. chili powder
3 T. cilantro
1 chopped onion
1 lb. grated cheddar cheese
10 corn tortillas cut into ¼ s (white corn)

Set aside ½ c. beans. Combine meat, rest of beans, onions, chilis, soup, ¾ c. broth, garlic and spices. Layer 10 tortilla halves in 9x13 pan that has ¼ cup broth on the bottom. Cover with ½ bean mixture. Sprinkle with half of cheese. Repeat second layer and sprinkle with remaining ½ c. beans. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Serve with sour cream and salsa.

.

Today Tinsley and I spent some time at the park. We hadn't been there too long when a man came up to me and asked if I had seen his pitbull that had just escaped. After I kindly replied that I hadn't I scooped Tinsley up and 2.5 seconds later we were safe in the car. (I've heard too many scary stories about those dogs) Anyways, our trip to the park was cut short but at least I got a cute photo of my BFF :)

You know you've made an awful dinner when you have a conversation like this...

Me: This isn't very good.
David: It is good- I like it!
(He was just trying to make me feel good)

A few bites later...

Me: This isn't good at all! I don't think I can eat it anymore.
David: There is something kind of different about it...
Me: Yeah I know. What is it? It smelt great.
David: It smelt awesome. Looks good too. But there is something... I can't figure it out.
Me: Well I'm going to throw mine out. I'm going to throw out all of the leftovers too.
David: But there is so much left over! It seems like such a waste...
Me: I know, but you know we won't eat it.
David: Yeah I guess. I hate that we bought all that chicken today and now you are just going to throw it out. That chicken was expensive.
Me: Um babe, there wasn't any chicken in this.
David: Oh.

Waiting for daddy

Every time I tell Tinsley daddy is coming home she waits by the window. It is so cute! She loves her daddy. So do I! He is the best dad and husband ever. Tinsley agrees that we are both pretty lucky to have such a wonderful man in our lives.

Procrastinating posting

I have no problem stalking other's blogs. Never have had that problem... probably never will. :) But I do have a problem posting. For some reason I always say "I'll post later." Nope. Doesn't happen. Then I get SO far behind that I definitely don't want to post because I have TOO much to catch everyone up on. So, you know what? I'm just gonna quickly tell you what's been going on since my last post....

-We took a few trips... I spent a few days at the
beach with friends... babyless... my husband is the best! Tinsley and I headed out west to Utah to visit my good friend Brynne... such a fun
trip- we had too much fun!
Love and miss you Brynne!

This was us on our "Mommy's night out."
We went out in our sweats... best ever!
We went to the movies and laughed our heads off!

We met up with David in Colorado for my sister-in-law Janet's wedding. We had a great time hanging out with fam :)
I love how Tinsley has her hand on the bride's shoulder

And my baby turned 1!!! Still can't believe
it. She is getting too big... TOO FAST!!

She didn't really know what to do or think when we were all singing happy birthday...

She also wasn't sure what do to with the cupcake... but she soon got the idea.
Here I am trying to get her to share... she wanted that thing to herself!

We got her a baby stroller and she LOVED it! She would not let go. Here she is taking her cousin Ila Mae for a ride...

Girls Camp 2009

I am so lucky I get to be in the Jamestown Ward's Young Women's.  I love our girls!  They are the very best!  David was so sweet and took off work for a few days to watch Tinsley so I could be with our girls at girl's camp.  It was an amazing experience in so many ways.  We all had a great time.  So fun!  Friday night our Bishop came and gave a great devotional before our ward testimony meeting.  Our girls are so amazing.  You could feel the spirit so strong.  Hope you enjoy the pictures...

Third post in one day but I had to post this!

This is Jarrett.  He lives here in town.  The Sister missionaries met him at a restaurant.  He was their waiter.  The Sister's began talking to him about the gospel and invited him to learn more.  He was very interested and invited them to teach him the lessons in his home.  The Sister's called me to see if I would come along.  We went to his home and taught him.  He was wonderful and was very receptive to everything.  He began reading the Book of Mormon and praying.  He came to church and had some lessons in our home.  Jarrett decided to be baptized.  We are so happy for him!  He asked David to baptize him.

It was so amazing watching Jarrett come into the gospel.  As he took the lessons, read the scriptures, prayed, and came to church you could see such a difference in him.  He looked happier.  He WAS happier.  Living the gospel makes you happy.   He is so grateful for the gospel.  He said it has changed his life for the better and he is so grateful for it.  He is such an example to me.  Jarrett says he is so grateful the Sister missionaries found him and invited him to learn more about the church because it has blessed his life and will continue to bless his life forever.  This experience has motivated me to share the gospel more.  I know there are so many people out there waiting to hear the gospel just like Jarrett was.  Knowing Jarrett now it would hurt me to think about him not having the gospel.  For him to have to go through this life not knowing what we know.  I pray I will be able to not be afraid to open my mouth and share what I know.... The truth!

Mother's Day

Once upon a time, there was a child ready to be born.  So, one day she asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"  God replied, "Among the many angels, I chose one for you.  She will be waiting for you and will take care of you."  The unborn child asked, "But tell me, here in Heaven, I don't do anything but sing and smile.  That's enough for me to be happy.  How am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language that men talk?"  God responded, "Your angel will teach you how to speak."  The child asked, "What am I going to do when I want to talk with you?"  God responded, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."  The child asked, "I've heard on earth there are bad mean.  Who will protect me?"  God responded, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its own life."  The child said, "But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."  God responded, "Your angel will always talk to you about me and will teach you the way to come back to me even though I will always be next to you."  At that moment, there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from earth could already be heard and the child in a hurry, asked softly: "Oh, God, if I m bout to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."  God said, "your angel's name is of no importance.  You will simply call her- MOTHER."

My mom is truly my angel.   I love my mom with all of my heart and feel so blessed to have her as my mother.  I want to be just like her.  She has been
an example to me of what a mother should be. She really is one of my best friends.  I love you mom.  Happy Mother's day to the best mom in the whole wide EVERYTHING!  :)

I also am so grateful to be a mother.  It is the best!  I thank my Heavenly Father everyday for this amazing blessing.

Happy Mother's day!!!

Pool Fun

The weather here has been so beautiful.  Pool water probably isn't quite warm enough to go swimming but my sister in law's parents have a heated pool.  Nice and warm.  We decided to take Tinsley for her first swim.  She just relaxed in her floaty thing and smiled.  It was so much fun and we can't wait to take her again!

Here's Tinsley looking at her daddy.  She's crazy about him! So am I... :)

I just have to say that David went to Target and picked out this bathing suit and hat by himself!  Didn't he do a great job?  I was so impressed.  I love my little family!!
